Connecting to Wireless Networks on Mac OS X

Connect to the Thayer Secure or Dartmouth Secure wireless network.

  1. Select the Thayer Secure or Dartmouth Secure network from the Wi-Fi icon on the menu bar.

    Note: Thayer Secure is required for printing and AirPlay at Thayer.
  2. If you are prompted for your username and password, enter your Dartmouth NetID and password.
  3. From the Apple menu select System Preferences, then click the Network preference pane.
  4. Select Airport or Wi-Fi from the left side of the window, and on the right side of the window click the Advanced button.
  5. Make sure the Wi-Fi or Airport tab is selected, and in the list of Preferred Networks locate Thayer Secure.
  6. Drag Thayer Secure to the top of the list. Click the OK button.
    1. If you are having trouble connecting and the network is listed here, delete the network using the minus button, click OK and Apply, and then try adding it again from step 1.
  7. Click the Apply button and close System Preferences.
  8. Your laptop will now connect to the Thayer Secure wireless network automatically when you are within range.
