CrashPlan Backup

Mac CrashPlan Setup

To install and configure CrashPlan:

  1. Click here to go to the CrashPlan page in the Managed Software Center.
  2. Click the "Install" button.
  3. After installing, CrashPlan should start automatically. If it doesn't, you can launch it from the Applications folder.
  4. There's a bit of a quirk with the installer; you need to toggle the radio button from "New Account" to "Existing Account" and then back to "New Account". You should now see a Dartmouth login page.
  5. Don't click on the "Create Account" button on the CrashPlan setup page. It just refreshes the page. It's best to type your information and hit the Enter/Return key on your keyboard.
  6. Once you've logged in, make sure the username that appears in the "Files" section is yours. If it says something other than your name or NetID, please contact computing. If you don't see your name or NetID under the "Files" section, your data may not be backing up. Please contact us to get this

If everything looks good, then you should be all set! If you are at all unsure about whether or not it was set up correctly, please reach out to us so that we can make sure your computer is backing up properly.
