Upgrade your Thayer PC to Windows 11
Microsoft is ending support for Windows 10, so all Thayer Windows machines on Windows 10 must be upgraded to Windows 11 as soon as possible. Here are the quick and easy steps for doing so:
1. Ensure that you are either connected to eduroam, connected to GlobalProtect VPN, or plugged into ethernet at Thayer
2. Open "Software Center" -- You can do this by clicking on the Windows Start Icon and typing "software center"
3. Click on "Operating Systems" in the left menu bar. You may need to wait a minute for available items to load.
4. Click on "In Place Update to Windows 11"
5. The upgrade is taking place! This can take quite a while, on the order of 1-2+ hours, so our recommendation is to kick off this process before stepping away and letting your computer do its thing. If you need to work during the update process, just be aware that your computer may be slightly slower, and that once updated, a reboot will be initiated.
